The General Council of the Judiciary transferred to the Ministry of Equality of “various incidents” with the abusers control bracelets earlier this year. This is described by the current president of the Observatory against domestic and gender violence, Esther Erice, in a letter that has sent to the department led by Ana Redondo in which she explains that in January and February of this year she sent to the Government delegation against gender violence the errors detected by the Provincial Court of Granada and by another judicial body of Galicia.
According to the Charter, the Observatory sent on January 8 and February 21 two trades informing two reports sent by the president of the Provincial Court of Granada and shortly after, on February 27, a communication more received by the agency of a Galician judicial body. ERICE recalls in the letter that communications on incidents that the Observatory “are transferred to the competent agencies” to “guarantee the correct fulfillment of the agreed remote measures”.
The letter occurs in response to that sent by the Ministry of Equality last Friday to the CGPJ in which he assured that the Judiciary never warned him of the risk that would change the awarding of the service, which passed by Telefónica last year to a UTE formed by Vodafone and Securitas. In that case, Equality did it in the records of the words of the previous president of the Observatory, Ángeles Carmona, who said in the press that she had done so. The Ministry, however, replied that the new devices began to be installed on February 8, 2024, so “it is impossible” that Carmona notified in January of that same year.
Now the CGPJ explains that the relative issue “to the problems detected in the operation” of the service was treated “thoroughly” at a meeting of the observatory held this February 27 and that in said meeting “measures were taken to expedite even more, if possible, the transmission of the incidents that could occur.” Specifically, by the Observatory “it was interested in those who manage these devices that will be taken the necessary measures to solve the incidents and promote the appropriate improvements,” says the letter.
The CGPJ also reports that it was launched in a survey in this regard, addressed to the headlines of the judicial bodies and whose results “is planned to inform” at the Plenary meeting of the Observatory of this October, in which “the conclusions on the“ dysfunctions warned in the system ”that, according to the body in a communicated one,“, “the organism recounts in a communication in a communicated one,“, “the agency will also be made. XXIII Days of Presidents and Presidents of Provincial Hearings approved on March 25 and of which the Permanent Commission of the CGPJ agreed on May 6 to transfer to the Ministry of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Courts ”.
The bracelets have been currently known after last week that there was a ruling last year that produced a data vacuum that led to acquittals and dismissals in judgments for breach of protection orders, according to the Prosecutor’s Office. This occurred at some point in the data migration process after the change of company in the award of the service, but no agency has explained how it occurred. Equality has reiterated at all times that the problem is solved, that the bracelets did not stop working at all times and that “save lives daily.”
