This Wednesday the Milei government suffered one of its hardest political defeats: the Chamber of Deputies rejected the presidential veto to the emergency for the Garrahan hospital and also the corresponding to the financing of the universities. The mass mobilization showed the majority repudiation of society to the adjustment and forced the deputies who had been holding the national government plan to change their vote for once. They did not change their minds, they are afraid of the potential of the workers, students, retired, people with disabilities and all the sectors that have been fighting to organize and put an even more forceful limit to the worsening of their living conditions.

La Libertad Avanza is increasingly isolated, the governors press to obtain favors, the PRO is divided in relation to continuing behind Milei or taking distance, the inmates in the same executive have no rest from the outbreak of the corruption scandals and the entrepreneurs who until a few weeks praise the government are looking for alternatives. It is the growing social repudiation that disarms the consensus base that sustained it.

It is time to redouble the organization from below in the unions, the student centers and all the sectors in struggle to move forward with a program that opposes the government of the National that seeks to get out of the crisis by downloading it over the ones they have least. Those below have strength to impose urgent measures that recompose the income of the population, reverse the emptying of public services and that are the great entrepreneurs and the IMF that pays the costs.

The financial crisis is added to the political crisis. This scenario is the product of maintaining a backward dollar so that inflation is not accelerated, while the big businessmen fleeing dollars and the government prioritizes paying the debt at the expense of adjusting health, education and retirements. But the plan is falling due to its own contradictions, or the big businessmen, or investment funds already trust Milei and Caputo policies. The economic situation hangs from a thread, it is only sustained with the dollars of the IMF and all the eyes are set as soon as the Central Bank can endure before running out of reservations.

The force of mobilization

Christian Castillo, deputy of the Left Front, said it clearly after Wednesday’s vote: “The street triumphed over the palace.” It was the work, students and retirees who put the body and twisted the arm to the government. They let the adjustment run, betting on returning in 2027, as if the people could endure two more years of adjustment and looting; A story that we already saw with Macri in 2018.

The only favorable departure for workers, students, retirees and the poor people is the organization from below, in each workplace, study and neighborhood. You have to deepen the mobilization and fight for a national strike and a struggle plan until the plan of Milei, Caputo, the IMF and the great entrepreneurs.

It is time for the crisis to be paid by large businessmen, bankers and financial capital. Break with the IMF, ignore the external debt, nationalize banks and foreign trade under the control of workers and put all the resources at the service of popular needs, not the adjustment or speculation.

Wednesday’s great mobilization showed that when those below are built, those from above tremble. The force is on the street, in the organization, in the collective struggle; That is the way to throw this adjustment down and fight for a working and socialist exit to the crisis.
