Democrats in the American house of representatives have made an alleged letter publicly written to Jeffrey Epstein by President Donald Trump.
It is a congratulatory message for Epstein’s 50th birthday. With this, the pressure on Trump increases further around his former contacts with the discredited Epstein. Bloomberg reports this.
Documents from research into Epstein
The release is part of a package of documents that the Commission has received supervision from the House of Representatives. According to an employee, this material includes a will, address and contact books from the period 1990 to 2019 and data about Epstein bank accounts. The committee investigates human trafficking practices for which Epstein was charged.
The democratic members of the committee published an image of Trump’s alleged message. Earlier, the Wall Street Journal reported that Trump had contributed to the birthday book that was compiled for Epstein. In a message on X, the Democrats stated:
“This is it: we have Trumps birthday letter to Jeffrey Epstein, the president of whom said it did not exist. Trump is talking about a ‘great secret’ that they shared together. What is he lagging behind? Make the files public!”
Denial and legal action
In the meantime, Trump denies having written the letter. According to Taylor Budowich, the deputy Staff Chef of the White House, the image has been falsified: “Time for Newscorp to pull the wallet, it’s not his signature. Landing!” He wrote on X.
White house spokesperson Karoline Leavitt also reacted fiercely and stated that Trump “will continue to conduct the lawsuits aggressively” and that this is part of “the Democratic Epstein-Hoax”.
The president has the Wall Street Journal, publisher Dow Jones & Co., parent company News Corp. and founder Rupert Murdoch already sued for defamation. Dow Jones previously announced that he “had full confidence in the accuracy of our reporting” and to defend himself strongly.
The birthday book in which the letter would be, was compiled by Ghislaine Maxwell, the wife of Epstein who currently serves a 20 -year prison sentence for her role in the abuse of minor girls. Epstein died in prison, awaiting his trial.
An employee of the committee confirms that the newly released documents will be further investigated in the coming period and will be made public later.
