Hamas says he is ready to accept a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza, but Israel remains its offensive to take the city of Gaza.
Hamas asked the United Nations and the international community to immediately intervene to prevent Israel’s genocide in Gaza as the Israeli army intensified its brutal attacks on the city of Gaza and other parts of the enclave.
At least 73 Palestinians, including several seeking help, were killed in Israeli bombing in Gaza on Wednesday, including 43 in the city of Gaza.
Whole families are being killed together in their tents and shelters while Israeli forces attack densely populated areas in Gaza.
“My brother was killed, hit inside the room. They killed him, his wife and children; they all erased them. There is no one left,” Sabreen Al-Mabhuh, a displaced Palestine, told Al Jazeera.
Israeli grenades also set fire to tents in schools that house families displaced in Sheikh Radwan, Reuters said. “Sheikh Radwan is being turned upside down,” said resident Zakeya Sami. “If the town of Gaza is not interrupted, we can die. We will not forgive anyone who watches it and does nothing.”
Gaza’s press office states that Israel detonated at least 100 explosive robots in the city of Gaza over the past three weeks, destroying residential blocks and whole neighborhoods. About 1,100 Palestinians were killed only in the city of Gaza during Israeli attacks since August 13.
Hani Mahmoud of Al Jazeera, reporting from the city of Gaza, described the situation as apocalyptic. “It seems endless and devastating … whole neighborhoods are being destroyed block by block,” he said. “People are losing everything they have built over decades. For many, that looks like a nightmare.”
Hamas ready to accept a comprehensive ceasefire
In a statement on Wednesday, Hamas reiterated his readiness to accept a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza and the liberation of all Israeli prisoners in exchange for Palestinian prisoners.
The appeal was done while the Gaza Ministry of Health reported six more deaths from “hunger and malnutrition” in the last 24 hours, including a child. He stated that 367 Palestinians, 131 of them children, died of hunger -related causes during Israeli blockade, which continues to severely limit food and humanitarian aid.
Hamas also criticized Israel for committing “horrible war crimes” with an attack on the Al-Jarisi family home in the northern city of Gaza, which killed at least 10 people, calling him part of a systematic campaign to destroy Palestinian life.
The Israeli Operation to take the city of Gaza will likely move a million Palestinians, with most of the 2.3 million inhabitants of the shifted enclave several times. A spokesman for UN Secretary-General António Guterres said on Wednesday that more than 82,000 new cases of forced travel were recorded in Gaza between 14 and 31 August, including 30,000 people forced from north to south.
UNICEF warned that 132,000 children under five are in danger of dying of acute malnutrition until mid-2026, adding to over 320,000 Palestinian children facing severe hunger. “Hunger at the risk of spreading, children urgently need a massive flow of humanitarian aid – including specialized nutritional products,” the agency said.
The integrated classification of the food security phase confirmed in August that hunger had hit the north of Gaza and was spreading rapidly to the south. Humanitarian workers claim that the total Israeli blockade has transformed basic survival into a daily struggle.
Abdullah Al-Aian, an associate professor at Georgetown University in Qatar, said that the Israeli devastated land offensive demonstrates that the country is practicing genocide with “total impunity.” He noted that the Palestinians are refusing to comply with evacuation orders due to the tiredness caused by the repeated displacements and the absence of secure zones that the Israeli forces have systematically bombarded.
Growing global outrage
Israel rejected Hamas’s latest offer to end the war in Gaza. In a statement, Prime Minister’s office reiterated the Israeli position that “war may immediately end under the conditions established by the office,” which include the release of all Israeli prisoners kept in Gaza and Hamas disarmament.
Hamas agreed with the ceasefire proposals presented by the mediators, but refused to disarm until the Palestinian state was established as part of the so-called two state solution. Qatar, which measured the conflict, said that Israel has not yet agreed with its latest ceasefire proposal, accepted by Hamas last month.
Israel’s campaign is generating growing international reaction. Several European countries, including France, Britain, Belgium, Canada and Australia, should formally recognize the Palestinian state at the next UN General Assembly later this month.
Spanish prime minister Pedro Sánchez criticized Europe’s response to war on Wednesday as a “failure” that damaged his credibility. “We can’t last anymore if we want to be taken seriously on crises like Ukraine,” he said. Sánchez was the first European leader to describe Israel’s actions in Gaza as a genocide.
In Scotland, Prime Minister John Swinney has announced that his government will block financing to arms companies that provide weapons to Israel. “We will suspend new concessions of public funds to arms companies whose products are linked to countries that commit genocide. This will include Israel,” he said, installing London to suspend his trade agreement with Israel.
The United Arab Emirates also issued a severe alert, stating that the potential attachment of the West Bank occupied by Israel would cross a “red line” and mining Abraham’s agreements. “Our position has not changed since 2020: we support a Palestinian state,” said Lana Nusseibeh, senior diplomat of the United Arab Emirates.
This occurred when Israel’s far-right finance minister Bezalel Smotrich revealed a plan for Israel to attach almost all of the busy Worm, asking Prime Minister Netanyahu to endorse it.
Meanwhile, the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands announced an academic boycott of Israeli institutions due to “genocidal policies” in Gaza. Rector Wilco Hazeleger stated that the measure reflects a moral obligation. “We will not start new collaborations with Israeli parties. The boycott is in force until new warning,” he said.
