The arrest of a minor migrant resident in a Madrid reception center accused of violating a teenager in a nearby park has been the last pretext used by leaders of the Popular and Vox Party to further harden his speech against immigration. After the racist disturbances in Torre Pacheco and the veto to the Islamic acts in Jumilla monitored part of the summer agenda, the right and the extreme right begin the political course by raising the tone with statements of marked xenophobic dye and that delve into the ultra speech that falsely immigration and crime. All this while the government finalizes the details of the distribution of migrant minors to decongest the reception systems of the Canary Islands and Ceuta.
Although official data denies that there is causality between the arrival of foreigners and the increase in crime, the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, used a question about the violation that the police investigate to put in the focus to foreigners as a source of problems. He said that “crime has increased” as the arrival of migrants in an irregular situation has grown (something that is not based on official statistics) and again promised that, in case of reaching the Moncloa, “illegal immigration will not give any guarantee or any right.” Official data show that Spain has twice as much foreigners that two decades ago and a lower crime rate.
In his congress last July, the PP approved in its political presentation eliminating registration for migrants, as well as access to “non -contributory benefits.” That is, to aid as the minimum vital income. In the speeches on the right it is common to link immigration and crime, with different modulations depending on the place, moment and the image to be screened. The PP of Feijóo raised strongly in the 2024 electoral campaigns a hostile agenda towards immigration and has not released it since then. Last July, in full racist outbreak in Torre Pacheco, the party said that the trigger had been “a problem of insecurity.”
Feijóo hardens his speech against immigration dragged by Vox, which continues to capitalize on social discontent in surveys. In his stage as president in Galicia he had never related crime and immigration and every time he does it in charge of the PP, the extreme right goes one step further. Regarding the violation investigated by the police, its leader, Santiago Abascal came to blame Open Arms directly, in addition to the migratory policies of the PSOE and also “of the follow -up of the PP.”
“A girl victim of SĆ”nchez, from Open Arms, of bipartisanship, of all those who do politics and business with the Islamist invasion,” wrote the Vox leader in a message in his X account.
At a press conference this Monday, Abascal insisted on a similar speech and called to “sink” the Open Arms because, in his opinion, “he collaborates with the mafias of the traffic of people to continue with the Islamist invasion of Europe.” “I have already said what had to do with that ship: confiscate it and sink it. And if it seems very drastic, you can simply confiscate and reuse to take all those who are illegally coming to our homeland,” he said. Open Arms is an NGO formed by lifeguards who has helped save the lives of more than 70,000 people.
Neither Feijóo nor Abascal pronounced, however, about the aggression that investigates two migrant minors living in the same reception center in the Hortaleza neighborhood of Madrid in which the lesser detained resided. As reported by the government delegate in the Community of Madrid, Francisco MartĆn, both – who went with a third person of legal age – were assaulted on Sunday by two hooded men, when information about the violation of the minor who investigated the authorities had already come to light. One of the three beaten young people had to be transferred to the hospital.
MartĆn, who showed his resounding sentence to sexual aggression and asked to investigate why the young detainee was out of the facilities at night, also launched a warning: the “criminalization” and the “hate speech” that, in his opinion, derive in situations such as the attack of the hooded men, should not be instigated. A minor judge agreed on Monday the internment in a closed regime of the young migrant accused of violating the teenager.
Ayuso: “Every day they are more aggressive”
One of the first leaders to react to the news of the arrest of the young migrant was the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel DĆaz Ayuso, who maintains a pulse with the government on account of immigration policy. “Every day they are more aggressive and arrive in worse conditions. And the response of the Government of SĆ”nchez is to multiply their arrival and disregard them while insulting us to the presidents,” he said on Sunday in an X message in which he linked an OKDIARY news about the facts.
The Executive of the Community of Madrid, who has just brought to the Supreme Court the decree that forces the communities to host migrant minors, announced Monday that he will ask for the repatriation of the young man arrested before āthe impossibility of his integrationā, as he has done with another 37 foreign minors. “The Community of Madrid will send this case to the Government Delegation to proceed with its return (…). We will adopt the necessary actions for the government to fulfill its legal obligations,” he said in another Message in x The Minister of Family, Youth and Social Affairs, Ana DĆ”vila.
Beyond the political reactions, the incident has once again put the focus on the first reception center located in the Hortaleza neighborhood of Madrid, where the detainee was resided. The violation that is investigated was committed, allegedly, in the Park of Clara Eugenia, close to the institution. That center is one of the recurring scenarios of Vox anti -immigration speech, which on Tuesday has called a concentration in its vicinity.
Precisely at the gates of that center, the Vox spokesman in the Madrid City Council, Javier Ortega Smith, who insisted on a xenophobic allegation by warning that the capital “can end up being a failed city” was transferred on Monday, if a failed city is not put on the “dry” brake on illegal immigration and the “derivation of insecurity” that, in its opinion, is lived in the neighborhoods. Ortega Smith also stated that the sexual aggression investigated by the authorities is a consequence of the “progressive consensus” in which he framed PP and PSOE.
Extreme right groups as a national core tried to demonstrate at the gates of this center in June, but the Government delegation did not authorize the concentration with the argument of the necessary “protection” of resident minors in the face of “harassment and hate.” The Neonazi Group celebrated on Monday the aggression to two young residents in the center of Hortaleza to which the Government delegate alluded. “Not all heroes carry a layer, some go with” Hood, “he collected a message posted on their social networks together with information about the assault that took one of them to the hospital.
