The White House announced on Tuesday that the US Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) will use “anti-Americanism” as an eliminatory criterion for the imigrante who requests visa or other benefits to the country.
“Anti -Americanism” will be found through “verification in social networks” of the profiles of those who ask for asylum to the US.
“The benefits of the United States should not be granted to those who despise the country and promote anti-American ideologies. Immigration benefits-including living and working in the US-remain a privilege, not a right,” Matthew Tragesser, USCIS spokesman, said in a statement.
According to the document released on the USCIS official website, the benefits will be denied abroad that “has endorsed, promoted, supported or otherwise advocated the opinions of a terrorist organization or group – including foreigners who support or promote anti -American terrorist ideologies or activities, and anti -Semitic terrorist organizations – or promote anti -Semitic ideologies”.
It is not known for sure the criteria for classifying the anti -Semitism quoted in the text, but, according to the official definition adopted by the US, anyone who criticizes Israel is considered an anti -Semitic across the country.
