In a support action to Jair Bolsonaro, 16 parliamentarians linked to European ultra -right parties, including six Poles, ask the European Union to follow Trump’s example and apply sanctions against STF minister.

A group of 16 Ultra-right deputies of the European Parliament asked on Wednesday (07/30) that the European Union repeats the sanctions applied by the US against the Supreme Court Minister (STF) Alexandre de Moraes.

In a letter sent to the EU diplomacy head, Kaja Kallas, by the Polyk Tarczynski Polish MEP, the group suggests that the block holds Moraes and allies for “serious human rights violations and democratic principles.” The minister has already been punished by the US government with the blockade of goods and financial transactions as well as the restriction of travel to the US.

“Since 2019, Minister Moraes has unilaterally assumed the role of investigator, prosecutor and judge, issuing secret orders to censor political speeches, block goods and arresting critics without due process of law,” the parliamentarians say.

Like US President Donald Trump, parliamentarians also argue that the judge be framed due to his role in prosecution against former President Jair Bolsonaro.

“Now Moraes supervises the politicized accusation of his greatest political enemy, former President Jair Bolsonaro, with unfounded accusations-seeking to arrest him forever and prevent him from competing and overcoming the 2026 presidential elections in Brazil,” says the letter.

MEPs also cite Moraes’s recent decision to ban Bolsonaro to use social networks or relay interviews as a violation of the EU commitment to freedom of expression.

“Moraes has been promoting a censorship campaign far beyond its jurisdiction, threatening not only Brazil’s democracy, but also the global democratic order that the EU seeks to defend. […] The EU should send a clear message that judicial authoritarianism and censorship will not be tolerated, ”concludes the text.

The letter is signed by ultra -decreases that make up the patriotic parliamentary groups throughout Europe and conservatives and reformists and published on Tarczynski’s social networks. Together, the acronyms have 22% of the chairs in Parliament. Already the group of 16 deputies who signed the letter represents only 2% of the 720 members of the European Parliament.

Among the 16 signs of the request are six MEPs poles affiliated with the nationalist Law and Justice (PIS) party. Other parliamentarians include Greek Afroditi Latinopoulou from the voice of reason; the Spaniard Jorge Martín Frias, from Vox; the Portuguese Tiago Moreira de Sá, from the arrival; and French Virginie Joron, from the national meeting (Marine Le Pen’s party).

According to a CNN report, licensed deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro articulates an agenda similar to the US also in Europe, seeking support from heads of government to adopt sanctions against Moraes.

The Brazilian deputy also publicly thanked the Polish MEO who released the letter asking for sanctions against Moraes. “Thank you very much Dominik [Tarczynski] by your appreciation in the protection of freedoms. God bless you, my friend, ”wrote Eduardo on the X network.

European sanctions regime has already punished 133 people

The EU has a mechanism for pressuring foreign authorities to comply with human rights since 2020, the EU global human rights sanctions regime. Similar to the American, the model is known as the European magnitsky law, as it was based on the American legislation used by Trump to frame Moraes this week.

According to the European Parliament, the rule freezes active and prohibits travel to people and organizations responsible for violations such as genocide, crimes against humanity, torture, slavery, extrajudicial murders, forced disappearance of people and arbitrary arrests or arrests.

People aimed at the measure also cannot receive backgrounds from EU people and organizations.

At least 133 people and 37 entities have already been sanctioned in this context. Among the targets are the Russian paramilitary group Wagner, taken as Kremlin’s informal arm, “Israeli extremists in the occupied West Bank” responsible for attacks on Palestinians, activists who block the arrival of humanitarian aid to Gaza and the Palestinian militant group Hamas, classified as a terrorist organization by the block.
