Cardano (ADA) has shown a strong price development in recent days, with an increase of almost twenty percent on a weekly basis. Nevertheless, there is internal unrest: behind the scenes, founder Charles Hoskinson is struggling with a management conflict that puts pressure on the future of the network.

No-voter causes problems

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson and a person or group called ‘Whale’ are in conflict about voting behavior within the governance. Whale is a so -called Delegated Representative (DreP). This means that the person (or group) can vote for decisions about the network. Ada owner delegate their tokens to the DreP, who then votes on their behalf. The more Ada you own, the greater your voting rights.

Recently, Whale automatically votes in protest against all proposals that Hoskinson submits. According to De DreP, Input Output Global (IOG), the development company behind Cardano, delivers too few tangible results and wastes many resources.

Hoskinson calls for rationality

Hoskinson does not agree with Whale’s criticism and calls the attitude “emotional” and “not based on facts.” The founder emphasizes in a video that Cardano has taken major steps in recent times. For example, the Voltaire-phase was successfully rolled out, including the complete launch of the governance system that he thinks Whale is now abusing. This system went into full operation in January after the Plomin Hard Fork.

The Cardano founder warns that the future of the network can be at stake if users blindly give their tokens to Dreps such as Whale. His call is also to choose rational representatives who fairly assess proposals and collaborate on network growth.

Cardano Community responds

There is also criticism from the community that the direction is not going in the right direction. For example, Toshi says that IOG has given too much attention to governance and too little to fast transaction times. Hoskinson, however, indicates that “scaling up has always been under development.” User The_iagnaut calls Hoskinson’s comments “disgusting” and argues for more companies than just IOG who work on the network.

It may be clear, the community is currently not unanimous about the course that Cardano takes. But that is democracy, and exactly what the decentralized governance system was designed. However, there will soon have to be a compromise, because the current impasse is also not sustainable.
