60,000 dead in Gaza are already there for Israeli attacks since October 7, 2023. The last days are living the worst famine scenes in the strip for the blockade to international aid. And Donald Trump and Benjamín Netanyahu have decided to get up from the table in Doha (Qatar) where they were negotiating a high was with Hamas, to which he failed not to want “the agreement” for their insistence that the Israeli army leaves the occupied territories. However, as the Israeli prime minister in Washington said a few weeks ago, Tel Aviv does not want to stop exercising military control of the area.
“It’s a pity for Hamas,” said US president Donald Trump, before traveling to Scotland this Friday morning: “It’s a pity. Hamas did not want to reach an agreement, I think they want That, they didn’t want to reach an agreement. ”
“I said that this would happen when the last 10 or 20 hostages will be left,” Trump continued: “I don’t think Hamas reaches an agreement because that means they lose protection. And, basically, that was what happened. Hamas did not want to reach an agreement. I think what will happen is that they will have to hunt them.”
The Israeli prime minister, Benjamín Netanyahu, in a statement released by his office, blamed Hamas to Hamas of the blockade in the negotiations for Alto El Fuego and assured that he is, together with the United States, “considering other options.”
“The special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, was right. Hamas is the obstacle to a hostage release agreement. Now we are considering alternative options to bring our hostages home, put an end to Hamás’ terrorist regime and ensure lasting peace for Israel and our region,” the statement includes, EFE reports.
The Palestinian group, on the other hand, was “surprised” by Witkoff’s words and reaffirmed “his commitment to complete the negotiations and participate in them so that he contributes to overcome the obstacles and reach a highly permanent fire agreement,” in a statement published in the last hours.
Discomfort with macron
The United States government expressed its strong rejection of France on Thursday to officially recognize the State of Palestine. “This irresponsible decision only serves the propaganda of Hamas and represents a setback for peace. It is a slap on the face of the victims of October 7,” wrote the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in his official account of the social network X.
The French president, Emmanuel Macron, announced that France will recognize the Palestinian State in a letter to the President of the National Palestinian Authority (ANP), Mahmud Abás. “Faithful to its historical commitment to a fair and lasting peace in the Middle East, I have decided that France recognizes the state of Palestine,” Macron announced through his social network account X, in which he shared the letter sent to the Palestinian leader.
The president said he will formalize that recognition in the UN General Assembly next September.
Israeli President Isaac Herzog, meanwhile, considers that France’s decision to recognize the Palestinian State will not “promote peace, nor will it help defeat terrorism” in the Middle East, said Friday in a statement, EFE reports.
“The French president’s statement will not promote peace in the Middle East. It will not help defeat the threat of terrorism. And most importantly, it will certainly not help bring them (to Israeli hostages) at home sooner,” said Herzog in a message in which he attached a photograph of citizens who still remain in the hands of Hamas.
“A Palestinian state in these conditions would be a launch platform to annihilate Israel, not to live in peace next to him,” Netanyahu denounced in an X message. “This decision rewards terror and runs the risk of creating another Iranian satellite, as Gaza became,” he added.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar has also positioned himself against France’s decision. He has affected this Friday to the French president, Emmanuel Macron, who has taken the step of joining the recognition of the Palestinian State, something he considers is “a prize for Hamas and terrorism of October 7”, in reference to the attacks of the Palestinian group that perpetrated against Israeli territory in 2023.
For the Outdoor Holder Macron’s decision is “an attempt to impose a clear threat to their safety” while Israeli troops continue to bombard tirelessly a devastated strip, where there are already more than 59,100 dead Gazaties.
“Such a gift, that Hamas hastened to celebrate last night, is only expected to lead to a hardening of their positions in negotiations. The implications are: prolonging the war, continuing with the abuse of hostages and also prolonging the suffering of the Palestinian population in Gaza,” added the Israeli minister.
