Alvaro Leyva, former Colombian Foreign Minister, went to the United States for two months to talk to advisers and people close to Donald Trump to propose a blow to overthrowing Gustavo Petro, current president of his country. The newspaper El PaĆs got audio recordings that prove this visit, but also, according to its sources, says that the White House never considered this proposal.
Leyva allegedly would prove that Petro is a drugstore, and would take these accusations to public to cause his resignation. His plan was also to put Francia MĆ”rquez, the vice president, in office, with the help of āarmed and unarmed actorsā, such as Eln, Marxist guerrillas of Colombia, and the Gulf clan, the largest organization of the Caribbean drug trafficking.
The recordings that the newspaper obtained were already in the hands of Colombia’s secret service. Petro, when he discovered the scam attempt being designed, made a speech accusing Leyva of a coup. The former chancellor soon traveled to Madrid for “security issues.”
Petro also asked for explanations for his deputy Francia MƔrquez, for being cited as a candidate to take over the post-goer country. He asked her to portray herself publicly, denying any association with the plan. MƔrquez refused to do so, destroying the already terrible relationship between the two.
