This Friday, the federal judge Sandra Arroyo Salgado awarded the house prison, with an electronic ankle, to Alexia Abaiga, an official of the Ministry of Women and Diversity of the province of Buenos Aires, arrested and charged for participating in a demonstration in front of the domicile of the ultra -rightist deputy José Luis Espert, who included the courage of excrement and a parade of political repudiation.

The house arrest was subject to the defense to report the place where Abaigar will fulfill the arrest.

This judicial decision, although it enables Abigail to improve the condition of detention and not be in the Ezeiza prison as until now, far from being a repair gesture, confirms the scandalous decision to keep it detained (since it is a benefit that can be quickly revoked), when it should be released immediately. It holds a repressive escalation that aims to criminalize social protest and silence dissident voices.

The arrest of Abaigar – an unnecessary with bombs and dishes by the Minister of Nation Security, Patricia Bullrich – occurred on Wednesday, June 25 in the northern area of Buenos Aires, after a series of massive raids ordered by the Federal Court. In the case, it is accused of having participated in the organization and execution of the act with other people, in what from different sectors is denounced as an unprecedented political persecution.

The repressive advance did not stop there: Judge Arroyo Salgado ordered raids in private homes and in the municipality of Quilmes, and kept Eva Mieri, president of the Block of Councilors for the Union for the Homeland and General Secretary of the Local PJ itself. Another militant of that space was also arrested, apparently just for “background investigation” linked to the same case.

Judge Arroyo Salgado, who recently participated in the celebration of July 4 at the United States Embassy, appears as a key piece in this new attempt at political discipline, through the judicialization of the protest and the persecution of leaders and opposition militants. The complicity of the Judiciary with Patricia Bullrich and the Milei government in the anti -democratic and repressive advance becomes increasingly offensive. From the unconstitutional “antipiquetes protocol”, the causes by the victims of repressions in Congress such as Matías Aufieri and Pablo Grillo, and retirees, the judges look the other way, and now, they directly follow orders to imprison who protests a national deputy as violent as sister.

As Myriam Bregman pointed out when he was interviewed by Julia Mengolini, while the arrest of Abaigar and her companions is done in a totally illegal way, when the deputy Espet threatened “jail or bullet” to her and Nicolás del Caño, and all those who make a social protest, for the prosecutor it is “freedom of expression.” No more questions.

The Center for Human Rights and Referents of the Left Front publicly denounced this reactionary escalation, which directly threatens political rights and democratic freedoms. They demanded the immediate release of the detainees and summoned a unitary mobilization to stop the repressive advance.

Meanwhile, in the National Congress a press conference was held in the arrests, promoted by deputies such as Myriam Bregman, Nicolás del Caño and Alejandro Vilca, together with relatives, lawyers and human rights agencies. There they denounced that, with the endorsement of federal justice and the impulse of sister and bullrich, political persecution is deepened under a facade of legality, violating basic principles of the rule of law.

What is behind is the fear of the government for the growing rejection of broad sectors of the population to the policies they have been implementing, and seek to intimidate with repression, which ends up generating otherwise: more organization. Bregman questioned that same interview: “What do we say to all who think that you can’t stand it anymore? Do we see ourselves at the polls?” Therefore, the political persecution unleashed by the Government and the Judiciary can only be stopped with the widest mobilization, to defeat the proscription of CFK and the “neoliberter” plan of Milei.
