This Thursday the university claim came back to the scene. Cruice of force resolved by teachers and non -teachers, demonstrations were added in different cities of the country such as CABA, La Plata, Rosario and Córdoba. There were also actions in different parts of the southern, west and north zone of Greater Buenos Aires.

In the city of Buenos Aires the day began with a hug to the Hospital de Clínicas from 10 in the morning, and ended in the afternoon with an torch march that was from Plaza Houssay to the Pizzurno Palace, where the headquarters of the Ministry of Education is located.

The current situation is critical, both as regards the general university budget for operating expenses and in the issue of wages for those who make universities work day by day as their teaching and non -teaching workers. The AGD guild (Teaching Guild Association) graphed it very well by pointing out that “to return to the level of purchasing power of November 2023 an increase on the gross salary of May 2025 of 40.8%” would be necessary. Numbers that speak for themselves and that have assesses many resignations of university teachers throughout the country before the impossibility of reaching the end of the month. Data that show the severity of the chainsaw plan and why it is necessary to fight to defeat it.

The teaching and non -teaching strike and the different actions that occurred in different parts of the country during this day return the issue on the agenda, after the huge mobilizations that occurred last year during the treatment of the University Financing Law and the subsequent presidential veto. However, the policy that the rectors and authorities of the CIN (National Interuniversity Council) have followed here, as well as the guilds and student federations – who respond in their overwhelming majority to Peronism and radicalism – have demonstrated their impotence to modify this situation.

Perhaps the clearest sample of the failure of that strategy has been the fact of having actively worked to deactivate the process of shots and mobilizations that began to grow after deputies ratified the presidential veto to university financing. At that time there were 90 faculties taken in 34 different universities, radicalizing the struggle and demonstrating the enormous will on the part of the educational community for defeating the adjustment policy. However, the conduits chose to limit and deactivate the conflict, avoiding the call to a third educational education against a government visibly beaten by the claim that only in this way could it impose itself despite having a majority rejection on that issue. Far from what they claimed, nothing was achieved with the strategy of betting on negotiations with the government, behind the hundreds of thousands who flooded the streets and showing that there were forces to win.

Precisely that remains the main limit, despite the fact that this Thursday’s actions show that there is anger and discomfort that are the basis to return to the path of mobilization and struggle that marked last year. The current context even raises new challenges, with the possibility of coordinating and joining all the ongoing struggles such as those of the workers who face the dismissals -like those of Georgalos or those of the SECCO energy company -, the salary struggles -such as that of transport workers or those of Shipyard Río Santiago -in defense of retirement and democratic freedoms. It is more necessary to unite all that force that is dispersed, by the will of the directions, to face the Milei, the IMF and the great entrepreneurs.

Against the emptying and defense of national universities, the science and technical and teaching salary system and non -teaching, it is necessary to build a true national university march, starting by demanding the centers, federations and unions put at the head to build a struggle plan from below. More is needed than isolated measures, in the perspective for imposing a general strike until the entire adjustment plan is defeated.
