Strategy (MSTR), the stock market company of Bitcoin arch image Michael Saylor, seems to be losing its appeal to traders. Where the share was known for a long time for its enormous price movements – and therefore popular with speculators – it is now remarkably quiet. The volatility of MSTR is at the lowest point since the company started buying Bitcoin (BTC) in 2020.
Little exercise, little interest
According to Jeff Park of Bitwise Asset Management, the so -called realized volatility – so how strong the share actually moves – has never been as low as now. And the Implied Volatility, or what the market expects from future movement, has fallen back to 48.33 percent. That is a huge difference with November 2024, when Donald Trump’s profit caused a Bitcoin rally above $ 95,000. Mstr then shot from 350 to 525 dollars.
Today? The race is dangling around 367 dollars – and that for a while. For many traders and option speculators, who live on fast movements, that is simply too boring. And so they seek their happiness elsewhere.
Smaller players gain ground
Although Strategy still owns more than 592,000 BTC, the company only bought 245 new coins last week. That is the smallest purchase since March. In the meantime, other, smaller companies are full in the Bitcoin train. For example, the Canadian LQWD Technologies recently tripled in race, simply because it now also puts BTC on the balance.
Also striking: Strategy has not used its share issue program for four weeks. As a result, the trading price of the share now lies on a premium of 1.83 times the actual value of its bitcoin ownership. That makes it less attractive for new loafers.
From hype to bonds?
To lure new investors, Strategy takes a different approach. Through its preferred shares Strk and STRF it now offers interest products – a striking step for a company that until recently was mainly loved by risk seekers. Whether this change of course works is still unclear.
One thing is certain: MSTR is no longer the wild ride it once was. And as long as that movement is not forthcoming, the magic for traders also seems to disappear slowly.
