Leo XIV also defended the commitment of a safer world
Pope Leo XIV appealed on Saturday (14) so that Israel and Iran move away from any path that leads to war and consider dialogue as an alternative to the common good. “No one should ever threaten the existence of the other,” he said.
In a statement issued by the Vatican, the Pontiff asks both countries to adopt as a strategy “responsibility and reason” and warns that the situation has been seriously deteriorated over the past few days.
“News that cause great concern are coming. The situation in Iran and Israel has severely deteriorated and, in such a delicate moment, I wish to vehemently renew an appeal to responsibility and reason,” he said.
Leo XIV also argued that the commitment to build a safer world, free from the nuclear threat, must be persecuted through respectful meetings and sincere dialogue in order to build a lasting peace.
“It is the duty of all countries to support the cause of peace, opening paths of reconciliation and promoting solutions that guarantee security and dignity for all,” concluded the Holy Father.
