Musk publishes toxicological examination and results surprises followers on social networks

The businessman Elon Musk released on his social networks a toxicological report with a negative result for various chemicals.

The exam was presented in response to public criticism and rumors about the behavior of the billionaire. The document, dated June 16, 2025, was issued by United States Drug Testing, based in Des Plaines, Illinois, United States.

Sample collection was held on June 11 at the Fastest Labs of South Austin Laboratory in Texas. The exam was requested by Musk, without any link with medical, judicial or contractual requirement. The analysis was conducted by the director of the laboratory, Donna Coy, Ph.D.

According to the technical report, no psychoactive substances or alcohol were detected in the collected material. The list of compounds analyzed includes benzodiazepines, amphetamines, ecstasy, barbiturates, buprenorphine, cocaine, ketamine, opiates, methadone, PCP, oxycodone, cannabis (cannabis), tramadol, fentanyl and ethanol.

The biochemical validation of the sample indicated compliance in the main laboratory parameters. The pH was recorded at 5.11, the creatinine concentration was 47.16 mg/dL and there was no detection of nitrite, which according to the technical report points out that the sample was not manipulated or adulterated.

The report presented does not contain information on clinical conditions, psychological evaluation or behavior analysis. The scope of the exam was restricted to the identification of chemicals present in the urine at the time of collection. The document classifies the nature of the test as “another”, indicating that it was not requested by judicial authorities, companies or medical institutions, being therefore voluntary and private.

By sharing the report, Musk did not include additional comments on the reasons that led him to take the test, but the context of the publication indicates that the goal was to answer the growing public questions related to his conduct.

In recent months, Tesla and Spacex CEO has been the target of comments and reports that address business decisions to public appearances considered uncommon. Some critics suggested that their behavior would be associated with the use of psychoactive substances, which he denies.

The examination of the exam occurs after episodes involving Musk in controversy of great repercussion. These include live broadcasts with informal language, unexpected business guidelines and posts that have generated negative reactions on digital platforms. Still, there was no proof that the entrepreneur was under the influence of drugs, which the report itself now reinforces by indicating a negative result.

The publication of the report on social networks generated wide repercussion. Followers commented on the initiative and shared opinions about the need for public figures to respond to this kind of questioning. Other users pointed out that a voluntary examination does not eliminate past or future suspicions.

Experts in Occupational Medicine and Toxicology observed that the negative result attests only the absence of certain substances in the body in the period corresponding to the collection.

According to professionals in the field, toxicological exams with urine samples have limited detection window, which means that substances consumed outside this interval may not be detected. Nevertheless, the test follows as a reference in administrative, sports and legal proceedings when performed under recognized protocols.

United States Drug Testing is a US private company specializing in toxicological examinations and occupational tests. The Fastest Labs of South Austin Laboratory, where the collection was done, operates with samples of urine, blood and hair, as well as corporate and private examinations.

Musk’s decision to make public the outcome of toxicological examination represents a rare movement between technology leaders. In previous situations, executives chose not to comment on personal or health issues, even in the face of public speculation.

To date, there has been no official manifestation of the companies under Musk’s command, such as Tesla, Spacex, Neuralink or X (former Twitter), about the disclosure of the report. The repercussion of the document continues to go on social networks and in international press vehicles.
