While the war in Gaza gets worse, Kamala Harris faces outrage after attending the Met Gala, seen as an act of neglect in the midst of Palestinian suffering

Former vice-president Kamala Harris received criticism after attending the Gala of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City amid low support to the Democratic Party following his continuous support to the Israeli War in Gaza during the Biden government. The official account X of the Democrats published a photo of Harris before she arrived at Met Gala on Tuesday (6), with the caption: “Kamala Harris rocks in Met Gala.” This has generated a wave of criticism of the Democratic Party, which has a record approval rate, according to CNN.

“The Democratic Party should erase this as soon as possible and resign who has posted. Only 27% of Americans approve: a historic record. Meanwhile, Trump is installing authoritarianism,” wrote Monica Marks on X. “We don’t have a second to lose with elitist nonsense. We need to show voters that we hear and renovate ourselves.”

Others also criticized Harris for attending the event while Israel’s war in Gaza and the consequent humanitarian crisis got worse, with many blaming the former vice president for not pressing for a ceasefire when she was in office.

“The amount of effort she has put to be on the subject is the same amount of effort she has put in a (none) ceasefire,” wrote a social media user in X.

An X person compared Harris’s photo posing at Met Gala, which features the exclusive presence of celebrities and billionaires, to a photo of former President Lyndon B. Johnson with poor Americans at Kentucky, writing: “We have traveled a long way.”

In addition to figures like Harris being criticized for attending the Met Gala, the event in its entirety has been the target of both online and face -to -face protests for the second time during the Israeli War in Gaza.

The death toll in Gaza has increased in thousands since the same period last year, and the population of more than two million people suffers from widespread hunger, while Israel continues to block all food and humanitarian aid. More than 52,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since October 2023.
