President points out that the Holy Father was not just a Pope, but someone who worried about the things that afflict the people around the world
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva participated this Saturday (26/4), the farewell to Pope Francis. Lula appeared to the Holy Father’s funeral in São Pedro Square in Rome, Italy. In the place, the exequial mass that preceded the burial was celebrated. According to the Vatican, at least 130 foreign delegations, including 50 heads of state and 10 monarchs, confirmed presence at the ceremony.
“God wish that the next Pope would be equal to him, with the same heart of him, with the same religious commitments, with the same commitment to the fight against the inequality that Pope Francis has. So I return to Brazil that we do our duty, as Christians, as religious and as politicians, to come to the burial of an admirable person like Pope Francis,” said the president.
“Pope Francis was not just a Pope, he was an emotion, he was a heart, he was a political leader, he worried not only about people’s spirituality, but was concerned with the Ukraine war, he was concerned about hunger, worried about the things that afflict the people around the world. It allowed us to follow the departure of one of the men who marked history in this 21st century, ”said President Lula in conversation with journalists after the tribute to Pope Francis.
