The new MuFACE agreement will enter into force on May 1. After months of tension between the government and private insurers who provide health care to the official, the mutuality announced Monday that “it is expected” that the new concert, awarded to Segurcaixa Adeslas and Asisa, “will be signed in the last days of April and will enter into force on Thursday, May 1”. It is the last chapter of a strip and loosen between the Ministry of Public Function and private companies, which had seen the road raided after a rise in the 41% premium in three years and a cake of 4.5 billion euros.
With the new tender, public function ends a forced extension of the previous agreement and opens the door to the possibility of change between insurers and public health at the million and a half of mutualists, including officials and beneficiaries. To do this, Mutuality has indicated that it will launch an informative campaign to inform about the details of the processing during this “special period of ordinary entity change”, although it has already given some keys to consider.
How to change insurance in MUFACE
This “special period” will begin on May 1 and will last throughout the month. Among the options the mutualists – career of the Civil Administration of the State and those who are in practices – may opt for public or concerted health, by the hand of private insurers who have attended the concert. Those who choose to continue receiving health care as to date, should not perform any management.
The official personnel who want to change the provider may do so during the month of May by submitting a request through the MUFACE electronic headquarters or in the offices of the mutuality, by postal mail or other records. “While the electronic route is recommended, as a way to carry out the procedures without waiting,” says the entity on its website. This migration will be immediate, which “must be especially taken into account if some medical or hospitable treatment is being followed, since making the change will mean the interruption” of it.
What happens to DKV officials
Along the way between the previous concert, which ended on January 31 of this year, and the new one, DKV has remained, which resigned from providing health care to officials by considering that the model is “undecided” and estimating millionaire losses. This company is the one with the lowest quota of mutualists, but it serves this system to almost 200,000 people, who must now make a “forced change.”
The options for these mutualists are to move on to one of the insurers who have attended the concert, Adeslas and Asisa, or public health, through the National Social Security Institute (INSS). In the event that they choose to continue in the private one, they must make the application between May 1 and 31. If they prefer the public, they will not have to do anything and, after the deadline, “they will be assigned to the ex officio,” they indicate in MuFACE. In any case, the change will not be effective until June 1.
A new change period in June
The special period of ordinary entity change will overlap with a new window in June, which contemplates the new concert. Public Function recovered in this tender the double swap model, in January and June, which had suppressed in 2022. This possibility of change is maintained although, both in May and June, it will only be possible to request the change only once in each month.
