Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano (ADA), has once again stirs up dust in the crypto community. In a recent interview with Gokhstein Media, he came up with a striking and hypothetical idea: the US government could use Ada for elections in the future.
Ada could make the system function “better”
The idea was shared in a short video of just 18 seconds, but that was enough to release a lot of enthusiasm within the Cardano community. Hoskinson explains that if the US government decides to run the election system on the Cardano network, it would have to purchase Ada tokens. Not to speculate, but simply for the system to function. It would then be an application of blockchain technology at national level, something that many in the sector have been dreaming for years.
Criticism of Trump
The statements fit in a broader message from Hoskinson. He is critical of the way the Trump government communicates about its plans for a strategic crypto reserve. First Trump threw some oil on the fire by calling through Truth Social that XRP, Solana (SOL) and ADA would become part of that reserve. The market reacted enthusiastically, but the confusion soon followed. Because less than a week later he signed a presidential decree that focused exclusively on Bitcoin (BTC) and on a stock of digital assets that the government has seized.
According to Hoskinson, it would be much smarter if the government first started with Bitcoin and then develops a kind of index model to add other cryptos, based on their practical value. Think of Ada, which according to him would be excellent for applications such as elections. In this way, he states, you prevent it from looking like the government chooses a few winners in the crypto world. And that would ultimately benefit the credibility of the entire initiative.
Future forecasts
Yet Hoskinson is optimistic about the course of the US government. According to him, there is a real chance that there will be legislation on Stablecoins within three months, and possibly a broader market law by August 2025. He bases this expectation on conversations with policy makers during the DC Blockchain Summit.
