The Israelite forces returned to Gaza again, recently marching to the Netzarim corridor, from which Tel Aviv should have been removed as part of the ceasefire agreement.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on March 26 that Israel will continue to exercise pressure on Hamas until the resistance movement releases all prisoners held in the Gaza Strip.
“The fight in Gaza continues. The more Hamas persists in his refusal to release our hostages, the more powerful the pressure we will exert. And I say to Hamas: it includes taking territory, and that includes other things that I won’t list here,” said the prime minister during a knesset speech.
His comments were made during what is known as ’40 signature debate’, a meeting that can be summoned once a month by the opposition and of which Netanyahu is legally obliged to participate.
During the session, Israeli opposition leader and former prime minister Yair Lapid said, “Mr. Prime Minister, while you spoke about his ‘absolute victory’, there were Sirens sounding in Gaza.”
Palestinian resistance groups have resumed the launch of rockets against Israeli settlements in the Gaza area since Tel Aviv renewed his brutal war against the track, killing more than 700 people in a matter of days.
The Israeli army said that of the two rockets launched from downtown Gaza, only one was intercepted by the Air Force, while the other fell into the Zimra area.
The QDS brigades of the Islamic Jihad Movement Palestinian (PIJ) announced the attack as a response to the massacres committed by Israel against civilians in Gaza.
According to Save the Children, more than 270 children were killed by Israel last week.
Israel resumed the war in Gaza in early March 18, after several weeks of threats and obstructions on ceasefire negotiations.
The ceasefire negotiations in the Egyptian capital failed after an Israeli delegation rejected a new Egyptian proposal and left Cairo on Monday, according to sources cited by Al-Araby Al-Jadeed.
“Israel has rejected all proposals, despite Hamas’s positive response to the humanitarian ceasefire proposal,” the sources said, adding that Tel Aviv is “coordinating with the regional parts to exert maximum pressure on Hamas before any new negotiations.”
Netanyahu’s comments at Knesset echo those made by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz a day earlier.
“If Hamas continues with its intransigence, it will pay high prices, which will become increasingly high in the seizure of territories (by Israel) and the elimination of militants and terrorist infrastructure until their full surrender,” he said.
As part of the renewed campaign, the Israeli forces resettled in various areas of Gaza by land, including the Netzarim corridor, of which Tel Aviv should retire as part of the ceasefire agreement.
