Chip giant Nvidia continues to put down unprecedented growth figures. In the last quarter of the tax year 2025, sales rose to $ 39.3 billion, spectacular growth of 78% compared to a year earlier. The explosive rise is driven by the unprecedented demand for artificial intelligence (AI) chips, in particular Nvidia’s latest model: Blackwell.
What is the Blackwell model?
The Blackwell model is Nvidia’s newest generation AI microchips, specially designed for artificial intelligence and machine learning. These chips are the successor of the successful Hopper architecture and offer improved performance, energy efficiency and speed. Due to the growing need for advanced AI models, the demand for these chips increases rapidly, which further strengthens Nvidia’s dominance in the sector.
Nvidia shares are shooting up
The vast majority of sales, $ 35.6 billion, came from data centers, a sector that grew no less than 93% on an annual basis. The strong quarterly figures ensured that Nvidia’s stock price rose on 26 February by 3.67% rose to $ 131.28. CEO Jensen Huang spoke enthusiastically about the results: “AI is developing at a breakneck speed and will transform the largest industries.”
The figures come as a big boost for Nvidia. Earlier this year the company had to endure a hard blow. On January 27, in one day, no less than $ 600 billion in market value (-17%) evaporated after the Chinese Deepseek launched an AI model that was seen as a serious competitor of Chatgpt.
Investors shot in the stress, and the share price went down. The panic became even greater when it turned out that Deepseek had trained his model for ‘only’ $ 10 million, a fraction of the gigantic costs that OpenAi has to deal with, which run in the dozens of billions of dollars.
The Chinese model sparked speculations to whether Nvidia’s dominance in the AI chip market was justified. But with the newest quarterly figures, Nvidia shows that it is still the undisputed leader in the AI revolution.
