Former Guinean President’s right-hand man says that from today Umro Sissoco Embaló is no longer head of state. Nuno Nabiam warns that if a Pacaló Sissoco continues to continue in the presidency will be a coup d’état.
Bissau woke up this Thursday (27.02) with police vehicles and elements of the forces of the order patrolling the city streets on a day marked by much apprehension by the population. Some schools were really forced to dispense with the students.
The attention turned early in the afternoon to the controversial end of the mandate of Umaro Sissoco Embaló. At 2:50 pm from Bissau, the Platform Coalitions of the Inclusive Alliance (Father Ranka) and Inclusive Patriotic Alliance (API-Cabas Garandi) marked the end of Embaló’s mandate at a press conference, which reaffirmed that there is nothing left to the head of state.
“From this moment we talk, [Umaro] Sissoco Embaló is former President of the Republic. Continuing in the palace would mean a coup d’état. But we do not want a problem in this country, we want to live in peace and tranquility, ”said Nuno Nabiam, who gave presidential possession to Umro Sissoco Embaló in 2020, in the default of the Guinean Constitution.
Nabera, the then vice president of Parliament, led by Cyprian Cassamá, decided, in full electoral litigation, to give symbolic possession to a Sissoco Embaló, five years ago. The act took place in one of the capital’s hotels.
Today with his back, Nuno Nabiam, who was appointed Prime Minister Guinean right after the inauguration of Embaló, says that the fight of the opponents of the head of state is in favor of democracy.
“Total stoppage of the country”
As protest measures against eventual continuity of Sissoco Embaló in the presidential palace, Nabiam called for the population’s participation in the “total stoppage of the country, starting with the transportation sector and the public administration, inviting employees not to work on Friday.”
Who is available to embrace the cause is the revolutionary movement “dust of land”, an organization of Guinean civil society. His secretary general, Vicar Luís Balanta, does not believe in an external solution to the country’s problems.
“We cannot observe the cedeao, the United Nations and the international community, we have to fight while Guineans to defend what is ours. So we invite tomorrow [sexta-feira] All the people of Guinea-Bissau to, from midnight, stop the whole country. ”
Umro Sissoco Embaló is abroad and has not yet reacted on the political movements on Thursday and the “celebration” of the end of his presidential mandate.

Guinea-Bissau without any legitimate body?
Meanwhile, the mission of the Economic Community of the States of West Africa (Cedeao) unfolds in contacts with Guinean political actors in search of the political crisis in the country and a date for legislative and presidential elections.
The emissaries of the subregional organization held meetings on Wednesday with Father Terra Ranka and this Thursday with the “API CABAS Garandi” and the Permanent Commission of the National Popular Assembly (ANP).
After the meeting, the first vice president of the Guinean Parliament, Fernando Dias, says that the permanent committee of Parliament must work, to end the crisis.
“The only legitimate entity at this time to resolve the existing crisis is the APP PERMANENT COMMITTEE, because it can be responsible for solving the problem in the National Election Commission (CNE) and the Supreme Court (STJ).”
