Peter Brandt, once an outspoken critic of XRP, has completely changed his mind. In a recent X-post, the well-known trader even called the digital currency the absolute “leader of the pack.”
XRP asserts itself
Brandt’s positive comments came after a recent surge in XRP. The token peaked at $2.57 shortly after Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse met with incoming President Donald Trump. Unlike other major cryptocurrencies, such as Bitcoin (BTC), which recorded a slight decline this week and is consolidating between $90,000 and $100,000, XRP is showing clear strength.
A new era for XRP
In the past, Brandt was known for his harsh criticism of XRP. In 2020, he called the coin a “scam” and predicted that its value against Bitcoin would drop to zero. Even in August 2024, he was still pointing to a multi-year downward trend. However, the situation for XRP now seems to have turned around, partly due to Trump’s influence. Analysts expect the legal battle between Ripple and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to end soon, possibly through a settlement.
RLUSD is gearing up for major trade shows
In addition to the renewed attention to XRP, there are also other bullish developments surrounding Ripple, such as the launch of the stablecoin RLUSD. According to Ripple President Monica Long, the company is working hard to list RLUSD on major crypto exchanges.
With a market cap of $72 million and a daily trading volume of over $130 million, RLUSD still has a ways to go to compete with stablecoin giants like USDT and USDC. However, listing on platforms like Coinbase can significantly boost trading volume and adoption.
