This Friday, December 27, the workers of the Human Rights Secretariat gave a gigantic hug to the former ESMA as the first step in the fight against the dismissals of thousands of workers and the consequent closure of the Sites of Memory that the Milei government and Villaruel tries to carry it forward.

Since Thursday the 26th, dismissal telegrams had begun to arrive, thus confirming the threats made by executives of the portfolio led by Cuneo Libarona. This attack was added to the 2,400 dismissals from the contracts of the collection entities (ACARA) and the salary reduction of more than 1,500 permanent workers by 70%.

Like the workers of the Bonaparte Hospital, from below, they organized themselves and did not hesitate for a minute to stand up to fight. And like those doctors, administrators, psychologists, etc. who rejected the closure, the fight for memory aroused immense solidarity from human rights, social, political, union organizations, retirees, leaders from different areas, delegations of neighborhood assemblies, representatives of student centers, etc.

Against this denialist attempt to trample on the historic flags of the fight for human rights, an arc of solidarity was opened by neighborhood assemblies, workers from other sectors, human rights organizations, such as HIJOS, assemblies such as NiUnaMenos, student centers and representatives of university youth, legislators and deputies who accompanied the mobilization.

The leaders of the PTS at the FIT-U, Myriam Bregman and Alejandrina Barry, a historic human rights fighter, met there. The Mothers and Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo could not be missing on the day that grandson 138 was restored. From the women’s movement Andrea D’Atri and Claudia Korol.

In Mar del Plata, the rejection of the layoffs was also felt in an embrace of the former Clandestine Detention Center “El Faro.”
