Intervention by Nicolás del Caño:
“Many people here talked about anything, so let me talk, President. Look, I’m not going to deviate from the topic; I want to refer to this in particular. Others had a lot of time to talk about anything, and now I want to say two brief things. It is It is evident that those who are rising do not want there to be ordinary sessions extended until the end of December. However, I want to highlight that the agenda that has prevailed in this Chamber of Deputies, promoted by the government and many of its allies, has been contrary to that. the interests of the majority, especially the workers and popular sectors. Of course, we reject that agenda and have proposed a completely opposite one.
It is clear that they do not want a quorum because they prefer to call extraordinary sessions, where the government seeks to advance with measures such as the privatization of Aerolíneas Argentinas. This is an absolute surrender, already rejected by its workers, and our position on the matter has been clear. Furthermore, the government intends to move forward with a political reform that, as you know, President, attacks minority parties, especially those of us who represent workers and popular sectors. These parties do not receive contributions from big businessmen, first because we reject them, and second because they would never support a political force that constantly fights them, as is the case of the Left Front.
I also want to draw attention to something that my colleague Christian Castillo mentioned: in this anti-democratic agenda promoted by the government, it has been raised in different media – and it would be good for it to be clarified – that sectors of Unión por la Patria, along with other blocks, They would be discussing the elimination of PASO and a political reform that removes public financing from campaigns, allowing private financing indiscriminately. This favors, as always, big businessmen who finance the majority political forces that respond to their interests.
Finally, President, I want to highlight another issue: they have stood up because they are not interested in discussing important problems that we have raised. For example, we asked to debate the decree that restricts access to pensions for people with disabilities, and there was no debate about it. They talk about laws that, according to them, are little debated, but they are the same ones who govern through decrees and veto the laws approved by this Congress. As an example, I mention the vetoes of laws that granted benefits to retirees or the university budget.
In short, President, I wanted to make this situation clear and highlight the hypocrisy behind these attitudes. Thank you so much”.
Next, in a very defensive manner, a response came from the head of the Unión por la Patria bloc of deputies. Germán Martínez responded by saying that if there is an agreement, “we are going to claim it in public or not, as we have always done every time we make a political agreement.” In his words, the Santa Fe deputy seemed to confirm the negotiations. It only indicates that they will not be made public yet.
