The AEX price opens again in the red today and the problems surrounding the Amsterdam stock exchange index are increasing. The AEX is unable to follow the success of the American stock market indices, and Bitcoin is also showing its heels on the stock market.
AEX in trouble
The year 2024 started off fantastically for the AEX, but that changed since the all-time high in July. At that moment, the AEX price reached 950 points, and people already started to speculate about the moment when the magical limit of 1,000 points would be broken.
However, that breakthrough did not come, and since then the AEX has mainly fallen.
It would be nice if the AEX managed to make a higher low at this level. To achieve this, the price must remain at this point and then make a higher high. To achieve this, the 920 point barrier would have to be broken with conviction.
However, it now seems that the market has little confidence in this, because Donald Trump’s election victory does not bode well for Europe.
America First
Donald Trump is of course known for his “America First” policy, which he will undoubtedly continue during his second term as President of the United States.
As a result, after his win we saw that the European stock exchanges, but also other foreign stock exchanges, were struggling, while the American stock market indices added record after record.
At this point, that trend seems unlikely to reverse in the short term.
