Tron DAO, the decentralized autonomous organization that manages the Tron (TRX) network, has made a strategic choice by selecting Chainlink (LINK) as its oracle provider. This move marks a significant change in the network’s infrastructure.
Switch from WinkLink to Chainlink Data Feeds
Through the integration with Chainlink Data Feeds, Tron switches from the existing WinkLink oracle to a more powerful and reliable solution. This transition is aimed at strengthening the decentralized finance (DeFi) applications on the Tron network, including JustLend and JustStable, which together account for an impressive total locked capital of $6.5 billion. Choosing Chainlink guarantees access to reliable data, which is essential for the functionality of these applications.
Tron focuses on growth and adoption
The decision to partner with Chainlink fits Tron’s strategy to accelerate the adoption and growth of the DeFi ecosystem. Tron has joined the Chainlink Scale program, which supports blockchain platforms in their expansion. In the initial phase, Tron will cover the operational costs for using the Chainlink networks, such as gas fees. In the long term, these costs will be passed on to the users of decentralized applications (dApps) to ensure the sustainability of the system.
Response from Tron and Chainlink
Justin Sun, founder of Tron, expressed his excitement about the collaboration via social media. He emphasized that the alliance with Chainlink will create new opportunities for stablecoins on the Tron platform and the integration of real-world assets (RWA). Thodoris Karakostas, head of blockchain partnerships at Chainlink Labs, said the integration will allow developers on the Tron network to build advanced DeFi applications that contribute to the vision of a decentralized internet.
Chainlink’s CCIP-upgrade
In parallel with the collaboration with Tron, Chainlink has implemented a significant upgrade of the Cross Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). Now operational on the mainnet, this CCIP v1.5 upgrade introduces four improvements, including an advanced CC standard that optimizes data exchange between protocols.
The upgrade provides developers with an easy-to-use interface for new features such as cross-chain native token support, which eases programmability and enables slippage-free transfers.
