The president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silvaand the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholzheld a meeting in Nova York last Monday, September 23rd.
The meeting took place at the German diplomatic mission and was part of their agenda during the UN General Assembly.
Discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in areas such as sustainability and energy transition, in addition to preparations for the next G20 and European summits. Climate Conferences (COP).
During the meeting, Scholz emphasized the need for an ecological transition that promotes economic development and job creation in Brazil, highlighting Germany’s role as a strategic partner in clean technologies and in strengthening a low-carbon economy.
The High-Level Intergovernmental Consultations, a bilateral dialogue platform, were also discussed and are expected to continue in 2025 in Brazil.
Furthermore, the next G20 Leaders Summitwhich will be held in Rio de Janeiro in November this year, was a highlighted topic, with Scholz’s presence confirmed.
Lula reinforced the invitation for Germany to participate in the Global Alliance against Hunger, highlighting collaboration in sustainability and green industrialization.
The meeting also featured a lunch that included other global leaders, reinforcing the importance of the strategic partnership between Brazil and Germany on the international stage.
Nations continue to work together to promote a sustainable and fair economy, as expressed in leaders’ statements.
