During a state visit to China, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa expressed support for the “Six-Point Consensus” for a political resolution to the Ukraine crisis, proposed by China and Brazil.

Ramaphosa made the statement at a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, where he will also attend the China-Africa Cooperation Forum Summit, an event that will bring together Chinese and African leaders from September 4 to 6.

In another significant meeting, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim in Beijing on May 23.

The diplomats discussed progress in the political solution of the Ukrainian crisis, with an emphasis on dialogue and negotiations as a viable path to achieving peace.

The meeting reinforced the need to de-escalate the conflict, protect civilians and civilian infrastructure, and prevent nuclear crises.

The detailed consensus between China and Brazil includes calls for respect for international law and the organization of an international peace conference that includes all parties involved in the conflict. In addition, both countries emphasized the importance of international cooperation in various areas to ensure global stability.
