The organizations of survivors and relatives of the Cromañon Massacre have been fighting for 20 years for memory and justice, as the song that is already an indelible anthem of youth says, “Not a flare, not a rock and roll, our kids were killed by corruption”. This December 30, different activities will be carried out for memory and justice.
Activities begin at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary (Bartolomé Miter 3070) with the exhibition “Cromañon nos late”, open radio, photo exhibition, screen printing, among other artistic activities.
Continues at 4:30 p.m. in Plaza de Mayo with a release of sneakers and reading of a document, then live music and an interreligious mass.
Ending at 7 p.m. They will march towards the Cromañón Sanctuary again, where at 8:30 p.m. They will carry out the Central Act.
20 years ago, on December 30, 2004, a bowling alley in the Once neighborhood, Cro-Mañón Republic, caught fire. That night Callejeros was playing, and what promised to be a rock party turned into a massacre with 194 dead and more than 1,500 injured. Since then, survivors and relatives have demanded justice for these kids, but also that it be a cry of never again, because “Not a flare, not a rock and roll, our kids were killed by corruption”.
The pain, the consequences and the anger continue 20 years after this massacre against youth. The survivors and relatives carry high the flags of those kids who were murdered for going to a rock and roll recital. Today, in times where values of individualism, saving yourself alone, are instilled from the sectors of power, those kids entering again and again to rescue their friends, strangers and putting their lives at risk are an example of immense solidarity. As Andrea D’Atri, a PTS legislator in the Left Front, said in the chamber at a time when the Definitive Comprehensive Reparation Law was voted “No one gets up in this room, or expects applause for the reparation measures that were achieved, because they were achieved with the persistent and unrelenting struggle of family members and survivors, who did not stop for a single day demanding justice, overcoming the obstacles that they faced. They put political officials and institutions in it, like this legislature, and they had to spend 20 years to get it.”.
The Cromañon kids present, now and always.
