Crisis in public hospitals: Posadas Hospital has suspended the delivery of opioids to numerous cancer patients, which seriously affects their pain treatment. This decision could increase the demand for hospitalization, further complicating the hospital’s ability to care for its population.
“The situation of public hospitals that depend on the national government is critical. At Posadas, they will stop delivering medications for pain treatment due to lack of supplies and budget,” said Bregman in dialogue with Radio 10. Bregman also referred to layoffs and precarious working conditions in hospitals like Posadas, which increases the workload and queues for medical care. He noted that low salaries are causing many professionals to leave the health system.
