Airline Flybe launches volcanic ash insurance

275x250.jpgHoliday-makers jetting off with airline Flybe can now take out insurance to cover them in the event of more volcanic ash incidents.

The firm has just launched a £6.99 insurance policy which promises to pay out if flights are cancelled or delayed for over 24 hours due to volcanic ash.

As part of the offer - which runs to 30th October - anyone left stranded abroad could claim up to £1.050 in reasonable expenses.

Those not able to get on their holiday could also claim up to £2,000 for any holiday costs they have already paid.

It's hoped the odd policy - thought to be a world first - will stop tourists from blowing their top if a volcano does the same.
A spokesperson for Flybe said: "This innovative move allows you the opportunity to book with renewed confidence as you will have cover should the UK Civil Aviation Authority or any relevant overseas equivalent close airspace and scupper your holiday plans."
