KFC Double Down bunless sandwich launched

275x250.jpgAmerica isn't exactly known for having healthy fast food - but the latest offering from KFC has even got nutritionists there worried.

The Double Down is a sandwich like no other, because the bap has been replaced with two pieces of deep fried chicken.

KFC say the snack, which goes on sale across the US next week, uses chicken filets in place of bread and is stuffed with cheese, bacon and sauce.

Last year they tested the sandwich in Rhode Island and Nebraska and say it was such a hit they decided to release it nationwide.

There are currently no plans to bring the sandwich to the UK - though that is probably a good thing for our waistlines.
275x250.jpg Sure to leave diners greasy-fingered, KFC claim the Double Down 'only' contains 540 calories and 32 grams of fat, though some nutritionists claim those numbers should be doubled. Either way there is no point ordering a diet coke to go with it.
