Scottish beach used to promote Thailand
Tourist bosses in Thailand have been using a photo of an Outer Hebridean island to promote their own beach resorts. The photo - which has been used to advertise Kai Bae Beach - looks like the ideal tropical getaway, with a white beach and inviting sea
And it has undoubtedly encouraged plenty of holidaymakers to head off to the Thailand resort.
But this is actually Berneray island in Scotland's Outer Hebride and was taken by photographer John Kirriemuir and used on isleofberneray.com.
Unfortunately for John, rather than whisking him off to the other side of the world to recreate the snap it looks like Thai tourist bosses just 'borrowed' the original.
Writing on his website about the use of his Scottish photo John said: "The particular picture looked very familiar, and lo and behold; it’s one I took several years ago, put on the Berneray website.
"Maybe I should work my way to Kok Chang island, take some pictures, and put them in an Outer Hebrides gallery. Think anyone would notice?"
