A series of national flags have been recreated using local food favourites, for the opening of a international food festival.

Promotional material for the Sydney International Food Festival features the striking dishes such as the basil, pasta and tomatoes, used mimic the green, white and red of the Italian flag.

Others include lines of chorizo and paella for Spain while curry, rice and spices take shape for the Indian flag.
