Man watches 84 hours of Friends back-to-back
A TV fan and budding director has set a world record by sitting through a marathon 84 hour session watching every episode of Friends.Steve Misiura watched all 238 episodes of the hit US comedy back-to-back in a bid to raise funds for a course at the Central School of Speech and Drama.
The 31-year-old from London said he picked Friends because it was one of the few things he thought could actually bear to watch for 84 hours straight.
On his way to breaking the previous world record of 72 hours Steve suffered nausea, stomach aches and even hallucinations ... of which his favourite was "The one where the TV got turned off."
Every hour Steve updated a website with and image of him watching the TV, which will be used by the Guinness Book of Records when verifying his new record.Steve said: "At 12 hours I felt like I was just having a lazy day, by 24 I was a little tired but still felt fine, I’d got through 3 seasons and thought – yeah – I can do this.
"By 48 I was suffering a little, a few hours earlier saw the first signs of real struggle, and I had heartburn, dermatitis on my hands, mad twitches and heavy eyes. I felt really sick but thought it can’t get worse than this.
"By 72, It had gotten much was, I was delirious and starting to get really paranoid, but on the flip side, I’d just broken the world record so also felt like I’d achieved something.
"The next twelve hours were the worst…. I had to stand up for most of it, cos everything hurt. But oddly, I never really stopped enjoying it. I was chuffed at the 84th."
