Rubik 360 set to launch in the UK
The designer who frustrated millions of us in the 80s with the Rubik's Cube, hopes to do it again with his latest puzzle.Rubik's 360, is set to be launched next week and Erno Rubik, the 64-year-old reclusive Hungarian professor who came up with the original, thinks it will leave us scratching our heads.
Players must get coloured balls from an inner sphere into slots on an outer sphere by shaking them through a middle sphere with only two holes.
Bosses at some toy stores expect to sell thousands of the Rubik 360 in the first couple of days after its release on July 15.
The big question is whether the Rubik 360 will - like the Rubik's cube - be able to withstand being thrown at a wall in frustration without smashing.
"I feel that the Rubik’s 360 is one of the most innovative and exciting puzzles we’ve developed since the Cube – adopting elements of my original design, challenging the solver to use skill, dexterity and logic," said Prof Rubik."But it’s a more kinetic challenge, more physical, because gravity is involved. We all have great hopes for it."
