Honda launch water-emitting hydrogen car
A car which runs on hydrogen and electricity and emits only water from its exhaust pipe has started to come off a production line. The first Honda FCX Clarity cars will now be shipped to Hollywood celebs Jamie Lee Curtis, husband Christopher Guest, '24' actress Laura Harris and film producer Ron Yerxaincluding.
While Honda say production will be limited they are aiming to have 200 cares available within a year and will lease them out for £300 per month, including insurance.
The hi-tech car works by using a electrochemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen to convert chemical energy into electrical energy to power. We have no idea what that means either.
The FCX Clarity then simultaneously generates electricity and water, emitting no carbon dioxide or other harmful emissions.
"This is an important day in the history of fuel cell vehicle technology and a monumental step closer to the day when fuel cell cars will be part of the mainstream," said John Mendel, executive vice president of American Honda.
