Pagans allowed magic wands in prison cells
Over 300 Pagan worshipers locked up in British prisons have been given the right to keep magic wands in their cells.The prison service consulted with the Pagan Federation as part of a move to protect convicts' rights and ensure equality among different faiths before making the ruling.
Inmates will now be allowed to collect twigs from prison grounds and decorate them to use in rituals. The move also allows the Pagans to keep other “religious artefacts” which include hoodless robes and rune stones.
Justice Reform Minister Maria Eagle said in a parliamentary answer: "Prison service policy is to enable prisoners of different faith traditions, including paganism, to practise their religion.
"Religious artefacts are allowed for relevant faiths within the constraints of good order and discipline. The religious artefacts for pagan prisoners include a flexible twig for a wand."
