Paperman: Art from an A4 page

200x190.jpgAn artist has created a series of works of art using nothing more than individual sheets of paper.

Many of his creations are cut from a single sheet of white A4 paper, just like the ones in photocopiers and printers in offices around the country.

But Peter Callesen’s work - which includes an A4 page folded into the shape of a human skeleton - can sell for up to £9,500 each.
The latest works by the 41-year-old artist from Copenhagen form the exhibition Paperman at Helene Nyborg Contemporary gallery in Denmark and will be on show until May 17.

200x190.jpgA spokesperson for the gallery said: "Peter examines the flat paper’s opportunities to magically transform from image to a spatial reality.

"Three-dimensional figures emerge from the cut paper, leaving behind the silhouette as a negative, but which in itself is indeed a presented image.

"That the artist becomes one with the paper by using clear references to his own body and physics puts forward the question if it is at all possible to divide an artist from his work."
