Picasso self portrait stacked against wall
An original painting by Picasso worth £100,000 has been found stacked against a bedroom wall. The seven by five inch watercolour was painted in 1900-02 and shows the artist naked in bed with one of his many girlfriends. It was found amongst a pile of paintings at the house of a unnamed collector.
The work entitled "Etreinte" will now go on sale at Duke's auction house in Dorchester, Dorset.
Auctioneer Guy Schwinge said the discovery, which also uncovered paintings by British artists George Stubbs and Sir Alfred Munnings was "quite exceptional."
In 1969 the Spanish master saw the Etreinte painting confirming its authenticity - he also recalled dedicating it "Pour Louise".
